Day #74 (Sunday was supposed to be for rest, right?) (From Sunday)

Isn't it always said that Sundays are days of rest? Yeah, about that... I'd love a chance to have a restful Sunday just once. lol

The morning started off with Patrick taking the older 2 to church (they had "extended Sunday school" this week and had to be there until 2pm) while I took the younger 2 to football (Maura's squad meets up half an hour before each game - in this case, the game started at 11:45am so she had to be there by 11:15am) at Memorial Middle School. I hate games held at MMS. The girls cheer on the track, which runs on the outside of the football field. However, the track has this loose, black tar-like "dirt" (not sure exactly what it is) that totally ruins sneakers, socks, uniforms, etc. Luckily Maura managed to keep it all off her uniform this time (last year, I practically bought stock in the company that manufacturers Carbona.) We won the game (18 - 0) and the conversations with Coach went REALLY well. I guess the director spoke with her. All I know is that she didn't single out Maura, didn't complain that Frankie wasn't there, and was really nice. What really sucks is that she is generally a really nice person. I'm thinking she's just in way over her head and doesn't know how to cope with the pressure, etc.

After getting home, it was time for weekly cleaning, more laundry, and cleaning out the fridge. Yuck! But I do have a bit more room now.

Maura wanted to have "breakfast for dinner" and it just sounded really good. So, I made Martha's buttermilk pancakes and bacon for dinner, with fruit on the side. While Martha's pancakes tasted awesome, the batter just seemed really runny to me. It was almost like crepe batter. The pancakes didn't come out even sized, or even round for that matter. But, like I said, they tasted so good. Maybe I'll add a little more flour next time and see if we have better results.

Then it was time to do more dishes, put away laundry, get kids into baths/showers, load up backpacks, etc. I missed the Emmys last night but Patrick, bless his heart, DVR'd them for me.

By the time all the kids went to bed, I decided I'd watch a DVD (Easy Virtue, a film from 2008 based on a Noel Coward play) instead of watching the Emmys mid-show. The movie was really much better than I thought it would be (I would cut off my right arm for that wardrobe.) Then again, anything with Colin Firth and Kristen Scott Thomas has to be good, right? Even if it stars Jessica Biel? lol
